St. Louis was amazing! I enjoyed everything!
We stayed at New City Fellowship Church, in a dorm on 82nd street. It was older, we had to climb 4 flights of stairs about 7-8 times a day, sometimes even more! My room slept 6 people, there were only 5 of us. We got there on Saturday around 8pm. We had debriefing, and meetings until about 10:30; i took a shower after that. We got our rooms settled and we slept until 8 the next morning. We had church at 8:30 on Sunday morning. The service was pretty boring considering we were so tired! The choir sang gospel music and Swahili songs. Then we had more meetings after that. Then we ate lunch with a host family, they provided salmon, sour dough bread, salad, and ice cream! Afterwards, we had yet another meeting. this time about our tutoring. We would tutor a child from Monday-Thursday. Then we had dinner, and after that we started our back yard bible clubs! We went door to door to get the word around. We came back, took showers and had debriefing. Then we went to bed.
Monday-Thursday, we woke up. We had breakfast at 7:15am, went upstairs at 8 and had devotions. Around 9, devotions was over. We had the tutoring from around 9:10-12 . My tutoree was Jaylen. He is adorable!
He is 5 years old. I miss him soooo much!
After tutoring we had lunch upstairs, then we split up into groups for our work projects. On Monday, I stayed at the tutoring program. Tuesday, I went to work along the side of a main road, cleaning it up and making it safer. We did that for 2.5 hours in the pouring rain, hail, thunder and lightening! Not safe! Wednesday, I did the same thing, except it was in the blazing hot sun, lovely 95 degrees! A homeless man came up, picked up some gloves and got to work right with us! We bought him lunch afterwards. Thursday, I helped build a wooden fence for a woman named, Ms. Flora. She has 15 kids and 50 grandkids! WOW!!!
On Wednesday, that was the last day of backyard bible clubs. I just so happened to get a mosquito bite on my leg and I used the top of my tennis shoe to itch it. Little did I know, I was rubbing the top layer of skin off! It hurt for awhile, but on Friday, it got infected!
Thursday was the last day of tutoring. I had to say goodbye to Jaylen! I cried...quite embarrassing on my part. Considering I rarely cry in front of people. Mr. Dan had all the tutors in a circle while the kids went to the bathroom. He said Jaylen had cried for a good hour and a half and when he told me that, I broke down!
Friday was our free day. We woke up at 8, had breakfast. met outside the dorms and left for the arch. After the arch, we walked to get lunch. I had subway. Then we split into groups for the city museum and shopping. I went to the museum. I got my leg bandaged, because it got infected. I had to limp around it hurt so bad!
Then we went to a Cardinal's game. They won 6-4!! It was a good game! I almost lost my camera though!
Well, I'm tired and sore! I'm going to get off and post again sometime next week!

St. Louis!
On Saturday, I will be in St. Louis. Beginning my mission trip. I will be going with my church, with my youth group. I'm so excited but nervous! I went to Chicago last year in July, it was one of the most exciting and eye opening experiences ever. I'm looking forward to it! While i'm there, I will be going to a VBS, work sites, etc. we will have a free day next Friday, we will go shopping, go to a Cardinal's game, see the Arch, and go to museum's.
Here's the arch:

Here's the Cardinal's stadium:

During the game, we will be right behind home plate!! SO cool!
I'm excited to see the kids, and working in demolition projects!
It's late, I need sleep, I'll post when I get back from St. Louis!

Meaning
Here's some quotes that i have been thinking of the past few days...:
"Our lives improve only when we take chances... and the first and most difficult risk we can take is to be honest with ourselves." ~ Walter Anderson
“Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are.”
- Chinese Proverb
"It is never too late to be what you might have been." - George Eliot

Not much to report today or for this week....it's been full of boring nothings. My grandpa turned 79(?) on Tuesday. We had a giant cookout and celebrated. We got track lighting. That's about it! Oh and my friendish type person, Lauren, is getting married next Saturday, the 12th. She is marrying Ben Kingsley/Kimball(I have no idea what his last name is). They have a 8 month old son named Leo Benjamin. He is soooo adorable. (: So congrats to them!
Will post sometime next week before I go to St. Louis. SOSOSOSOSO excited for that!

Current Listenings: Give Me Your Eyes By Brandon Heath
Looked down from a broken sky
Traced out by the city lights
My world from a mile high
Best seat in the house tonight
Touched down on the cold black tar
Hold on for the sudden stop
Breathe in the familiar shock
Of confusion and chaos
All those people going somewhere
Why have i never cared?
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so i can see
Everything that i keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach?
Give me your heart for the one's forgotten
Give me your eyes so i can see
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide what?s underneath
There's a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
Too ashamed to tell his wife
He's out of work he's buying time
All those people going somewhere
Why have i never cared?
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so i can see
Everything that i keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach?
Give me your heart for the one's forgotten
Give me your eyes so i can see
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
I've been there a million times
A couple of million eyes just moving past me by
I swear i never thought that i was wrong
Well i want a second glance
So give me a second chance
To see the way you see the people all alone
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so i can see
Everything that i keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach?
Give me your heart for the one's forgotten
Give me your eyes so i can see
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so i can see
Everything that i keep missing
That i keep missing
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach?
Give me your heart for the one's forgotten
Give me your eyes so i can see
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
